Proofreading is a final read through of a manuscript or document before it is published. It focuses on typos, missing or incorrect words, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
Proofreading is a final check to remove minor errors that would detract from the professionalism of the text.
Past proofreading projects have included: nonfiction manuscripts, fiction manuscripts, and legal documents.
I am also open to help make sense of AI-generated text.
Copyediting
Copyediting is a more involved process than publishing that is perfect for self-published authors.
In Amy Einsohn’s The Copyeditor’s Handbook, she lists the main focus of copyediting as reading for clarity, coherency, consistency, and correctness.
